PrintSmart was a joint venture with Brother UK, a leading printer/fax manufacturer, to deliver printer equipment with consumable supplies included in the initial sale price or monthly charge
Within that offer were a number of conditions that had to be adhered to by the user. These included a maximum number of pages printed each year and the number of consumable items (toner etc.) supplied to the user.
We were able to develop a system where each machine automatically reported, via the internet, certain statistics such as the copy count and the date of consumable items fitted. With this information, I built an administration website to monitor the copy count data for each machine, and control the number of consumable items despatched.
If the number of consumable items shipped did not match the number of copies printed, or if a consumable item was requested but not reported by the machine as fitted, further manual checks could be instigated.
